When the work day is done, Irving really shines. This city of 200,000 boasts over 150 restaurants, destination golf courses, great places to shop, an outstanding arts center and much more. And its heart-of-Dallas/Fort Worth location puts it within 30 minutes of the sports, entertainment and cultural offerings of two major cities. More fun is on its way: Irving's current development projects include urban town centers and an entertainment district, which will add eclectic shops, music venues, an art-house movie theater and more restaurants to the mix. Recreation and Sports

  • Golf. Five 18-hole golf courses, including destination courses, three country clubs and a public course.

  • The HP Byron Nelson Golf Championship. PGA Tour event, with pro-am, at the Four Seasons Resort and Club. Annual venue for business networking and entertaining.

  • Las Colinas Equestrian Center and Las Colinas Polo Club. Sixty-two riverside acres of equestrian facilities, plus professional polo matches.

  • Campión Trails. 22 miles of hiking and biking trails along the pristine Elm Fork of the Trinity River.

  • National Scouting Museum. The official museum of the Boy Scouts of America, which is headquartered in Irving.

  • Parks and recreation centers. 39 city parks and 11 recreation centers, including a senior center, a youth center and an aquatics center.

  • Libraries. A central library with five branches and a bookmobile. Reading and entertainment programs for all ages.

  • Dallas/Fort Worth sports. Dallas Cowboys football, Dallas Mavericks basketball, Dallas Stars hockey, Texas Rangers baseball, Dallas Desperados arena football, minor league baseball, NASCAR races at Texas Motor Speedway, horse races at Lone Star Park.

Entertainment and the Arts

  • Irving Arts Center. More than 20 art exhibits annually, touring performances, two theaters, an outdoor sculpture garden and 12 resident arts groups.

  • Classical music. Three symphony orchestras, a wind ensemble and a youth orchestra.

  • Theater companies. Two award-winning theater companies.

  • The Mustangs of Las Colinas sculpture and museum. Iconic bronze sculpture of a herd of Texas mustangs running across Williams Square, and a museum that retells the story of its creation.

  • Dallas/Fort Worth arts. Major symphony orchestras, theaters, opera companies, dance companies, museums and state-of-the-art performance halls.

  • Dallas/Fort Worth entertainment. Major concert venues, touring shows, music scenes, entertainment districts, science and history museums, theme parks and the famous State Fair of Texas

Shopping and Dining

Irving is in the heart of a major metropolitan area where shopping is considered a sport and there are more restaurants per capita than any other place in the countryincluding the creations of several internationally renowned chefs.

Restaurants. More than 150 restaurants, with something for every taste, from neighborhood coffee shops to of-the-moment haute cuisine.

Shopping. Neighborhood centers, power centers and Irving Mall, a regional indoor mall. Nearby are other major centers, including the Dallas Galleria and Grapevine Mills Outlet Mall.

Irving Heritage District. Vintage shops, restaurants and parks in the heart of downtown Irving.
