With people spending more time — and more money — at restaurants and bars than they did during the COVID-19 pandemic, alcohol sales are continuing to skyrocket during the summer.

More than $5 million was spent at Irving bars and restaurants in May, an 83% increase over February, when they reported a little over $3 million in alcohol sales before Gov. Greg Abbott ended the statewide mask mandate and reopened businesses in March.

Omni Las Colinas Hotel saw the greatest change in alcohol sales from February to May, with a 440% increase, making it the highest seller in the city in May.
