The Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce today announced the 38th class of Leadership Irving-Las Colinas. Founded in 1980, Leadership Irving-Las Colinas prepares a diverse group of leaders to serve as agents and sustainers of positive change for the quality of life in Irving-Las Colinas. The program serves to provide a systematic program to enhance awareness of community opportunities, challenges, and resources, as well as open lines of communication and strengthen existing relationships with participants from various segments of the community and with community leaders.
“The Leadership Irving-Las Colinas Class of 2019 has been selected based on their commitment to the Irving-Las Colinas community as well as their high potential for leadership,” said Beth A. Bowman, President and CEO of the Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce. “We are proud to welcome these talented, committed individuals into the program, and look forward to working with them so they can contribute even more to making Irving-Las Colinas a great place to live, work, play and do business.”
Over the course of 8 months, from September to April, participants will explore leadership skills and how to become a more effective leader as they build strong relationships with fellow classmates and community leaders. Through lectures, discussion groups, on-site visits, simulations, class projects, and other service activities, participants will broaden their involvement in community affairs by matching skills and interests to existing needs.
Leadership Irving-Las Colinas has produced an impressive alumni community, representing hundreds of business professionals from a broad spectrum of the community, who continue to provide leadership in the region. Many alumni have become top executives in their organizations, founded their own businesses, or gone on to a career in public service. Leadership Irving-Las Colinas alumni include State elected officials, locally elected officials, veterans, educators, CEO’s and business owners.
