The City of Irving will honor the life and achievements of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at 6 p.m. Jan. 15 at the Irving Arts Center, 3333 N. MacArthur Blvd. The annual observance of the humanitarian and civil rights leader’s legacy will feature a radio show tribute including the news, pop culture, politics, sports and history of the 1960s. The event will present a compilation of audio, video and live performances from leading vocal and performing artists.

The Patel Law Group has acquired an Irving office building with plans to begin a major upgrade that will bring the law firm and closing office for Fidelity National Title into the Las Colinas Urban Center.

During the past fiscal year, Irving’s construction valuation topped $819 million — the highest in 30 years. Six years ago, it was $348 million, less than half of today’s number. The city issued 616 new home permits last year — more than double the number from six years ago. The average new home permit value is just under $400,000.
