A popular food stand at the Dallas Farmers Market has expanded to a brick-and-mortar restaurant, Bam’s Vegan Smoothies and Wraps, in Irving.
Bam’s Vegan opened in January with grab-and-go smoothies, wraps, nachos, pasta and more.
Owner Brandon Waller launched the stand at the Dallas Farmers Market in 2018, but eventually began looking for a standalone location to simplify his operation.
Waller gained a loyal following with dishes like Buffalo cauliflower mac bowls, smoked barbecue jackfruit sandwiches, blackened garlic “shrimp” nachos and a coconut-based “cheese” sauce called Truth Sauce.
For most people, the goal isn’t necessarily veganism, Waller said, just healthy eating and a more plant-based diet.
As a Black man, Waller said learning how to cook was his way of teaching people in his community about where food comes from, how to eat better and how to improve their relationship with food.
