CIVBI PAC

The Committee to Inform Voters on Business Issues (CIVBI) is a Texas General Purpose Political Action Committee (GPAC) and 501(c)(3). CIVBI was created to foster and support good government which will enhance the economic wellbeing of the Irving community and its citizens.

The goals and initiatives are to:

  • Identify issues or legislation of interest to our member-investors that impact the business community
  • Inform, educate and activate stakeholder on critical issues
  • Develop and support issues-based campaigns for industry

CIVBI is not affiliated with any political party nor does it collectively endorse candidates. 

CIVBI has successfully supported issues-campaigns including:

  • Vote For Irving (2020)
    Creation of a website to increase voter awareness and turnout in the races that mostly directly impact our community
  • Proposition A (November 2019)
    Local ballot measure that modifies the City’s charter to remove the retirement contribution cap, a measure that was required by the bond agencies for our community to retain its AAA bond rating, ensuring low interest rates for loans/bonds.
  • Proposition A (May 2019)
    Local ballot measure that increases Irving’s ability to recruit retail establishments and keep sales tax dollars in the community through the legal sale of off-premise liquor.
  • Proposition 7 (2015)
    State Ballot item that dedicated a portion of revenue from the state’s general sales and use tax, motor vehicle sales and rental tax to the State Highway Fund for transportation
  • Proposition 3 (2013)
    State Ballot item that increased the number of days business inventory, such as aircraft parts, may be warehoused in Texas without being subject to property tax.
  • Proposition 6 (2013)
    State Ballot item that approved one-time investment in the State Water Plan for water infrastructure projects.
