A city on the rise, Irving has a population of more than 240,000 residents and is located in the center of North Texas, the fourth largest metropolitan area and one of the fastest-growing regions in the United States with over seven million residents.

As the corner office of the Metroplex, our city’s booming, diverse economy supports more than 8,500 businesses and ranks second as a home to more private and public companies than any other city in North Texas.

Irving-Las Colinas is the first choice for many of our nation’s leading and most innovative industries. With our pro-business mindset, many companies also choose the competitive advantage of making Irving-Las Colinas, recognized as the “Headquarters of Headquarters” their headquarters or regional home. The global headquarters of 10 Fortune 500 companies and four Fortune 1000 call Irving-Las Colinas home.

Among the top industries in the City are professional, business and financial services; technology; logistics and distribution; life sciences and healthcare; aerospace and aviation; and manufacturing.

Hospitality Industry

The hospitality industry is a vital piece of Irving’s overall commerce, employing almost 20,000 people in hotels, restaurants and other tourism-related businesses.

According to the Irving Convention and Visitors Bureau, in the past year, there were 3.4 million visitors to Irving spending $2.3 billion, generating $55.6 million in taxes to the City.

Conferences and group meetings at local hotels and other facilities account for $505 million in economic impact. The iconic Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas in the heart of the Urban Center, features 100,000-square-feet of exhibit space and meeting rooms.

Imagine Irving is an initiative centered on developing a comprehensive plan for the City of Irving. One of the major charges of the project is to gather input from a wide range of community members to direct the future of Irving with a focus on neighborhoods, transportation, land use, and a vibrant and sustainable economy that will create and retain good jobs.
