Inclusiveness is a Priority at this Redesigned Irving Park

A revamped park in Irving has been redesigned for children of varying needs and abilities.

West Park, 530 Davis Dr., features swings with safety harnesses, a handicap-accessible playhouse and a quiet grove designed with autistic children in mind.

The design is in line with a 2019 parks plan in which Irving emphasized inclusiveness for playgrounds. While all playgrounds must meet standards set by the Americans with Disabilities Act, additional features can be enhanced for children with disabilities.

For example, the quiet grove is semi-enclosed and has translucent Plexiglass and fidget spinners to help kids calm down.
