New Irving Fire Department Station Aims to Improve Response Times

A new $3.7 million fire station will aim to improve response times in Irving and better accommodate modern equipment.

The new Fire Station 4 at 800 Metker St. replaces an old station on MacArthur Blvd. built in 1960.

Irving considered remodeling and adding on to the old station, but the updates and land purchases would have cost more than building a new station, said Irving Fire Department spokesman Robert Keeker. The city paid for the station with voter-approved bond funds.
