Irving-Based 7-Eleven is Sending A Slurpee to Space

Move over, Jeff Bezos. The Slurpee is going to space.

7-Eleven announced that it will commission a private space flight in August to celebrate its 94th birthday, and it’s taking the iconic American slushee with it.

The big question is what flavor.

The Irving-based convenience store said it will total all Slurpee flavors that customers order for delivery in July through the company’s app. The top flavor — Coca Cola? Cherry? Blue Raspberry? — will head to space.

Customers who order a Slurpee for delivery in July will be entered for a chance to win a commemorative space cups, according to the company.

And while the Slurpee may have originated in Dallas, it won’t be departing Earth from Texas. Instead, it will begin its journey from a 7-Eleven store in Michigan, the state that consumes the most Slurpees.
