North Texas is home to one of the most culturally diverse cities in the country, a new study says.
Irving is the second-most culturally diverse city in the U.S., according to personal finance website Finder. Factors of cultural diversity included sex, race, ethnicity, age, language, place of birth and citizenship of residents.
Using U.S. Census data, Finder studied cultural diversity, household diversity and socioeconomic diversity to develop a list of the most — and least — diverse cities in the country.
Overall, Irving was named the 21st most diverse city, with Arlington at No. 45 and Garland No. 48. Other North Texas cities ranked were Dallas (57), Fort Worth (68), Denton (125) and Plano (132).
The study did not take religion, sexual orientation or gender identity into account due to a lack of data, Finder said.
