Leaving Town For The Holidays? Here’s How Irving-Las Colinas Residents Can Protect Their Homes

If you live in Irving and are preparing to head out of town for Christmas, the Irving Police Department can offer some extra peace of mind.

Residents can sign up for free security checks as part of the department’s “Vacation Watch” program.

Officers will check the exterior of homes while residents are out of town. Police said they cannot guarantee they will check at specific times, but beat officers will conduct as many security checks as their workload allows.

To use this service, fill out an online form or call 972-721-2661 at least one day before your departure. If you return home early from vacation, please call the same number to let police know.

Police also encourage residents leaving town to stop mail and cancel all deliveries or ask someone to make daily collections, leave shades and blinds in normal positions and use an automatic timer for lights.
