How Do Irving Companies Rank for LGBTQ Equality in the Workplace?

Three companies with headquarters in Irving earned perfect scores for LGBTQ inclusivity in the Human Rights Campaign’s annual corporate equality index.

The nonprofit advocacy group evaluated more than 1,200 companies nationwide for workforce protections, medical benefits and health insurance, and culture and social responsibility.

A record 842 companies earned top scores of 100 and a designation as a “Best Place to Work for LGBTQ+ Equality.”

In Irving, top scorers were Celanese Corp., a chemical and specialty materials company; Kimberly-Clark, which makes Huggies diapers, Kleenex facial tissues and other products; and McKesson Corp., a pharmaceuticals distributor.

The lowest score given to an Irving-based company went to arts-and-crafts retailer Michaels Companies Inc., which received a 55.

A Michaels spokesperson said the company believes it should have scored higher and is working to determine what information it submitted to the Human Rights Campaign.
