Irving-Las Colinas Agency is Behind Super Bowl Spot Featuring Andy Richter As Avocado-Loving Julius Caesar

A favorite Super Bowl ingredient — the humble avocado — returned to the small screen during Sunday’s Super Bowl LVI.

Irving-based Avocados from Mexico developed the commercial, which features late-night sidekick Andy Richter as Roman general Julius Caesar strolling through a tailgate party at the Roman Colosseum.

The agency has released the 30-second commercial, which will air during the first quarter of the game.

The commercial will help launch the agency’s new marketing campaign called “Addvocados,” which highlights the avocado’s “good taste, good nutrition and good times when eating it,” President and CEO of Avocados from Mexico Alvaro Luque said.

This is the brand’s seventh Super Bowl commercial, which was shot over three days in January in Mexico City. Austin-based agency GSD&M helped develop and produce the spot.

“We wanted to focus on a tailgate, which everyone loves,” Luque said. “But we wanted to create the worst kind of tailgate.”
