Irving Sophomore is Semifinalist in Science Contest with $400K in Prizes

Albert Einstein, Stephen Hawking and TV’s fictional Sheldon Cooper are all renowned physicists — and then there’s Irving high schooler Aryan Malhotra.

The sophomore from Uplift North Hills Preparatory School is one of 30 semifinalists in the eighth annual Breakthrough Junior Challenge science video competition.

Malhotra’s one-minute, 29-second YouTube video is in the running for $400,000 in prizes, including a college scholarship and new science lab for North Hills Prep.

Fan voting runs through Sept. 20 on the Breakthrough Facebook and YouTube pages.

Malhotra’s video is on the Tachyon hypothetical particle, which travels faster than light.
