Fluor-led JV wins $700M Texas highway contract

The Texas DOT awarded a $700 million contract to Lone Star Constructors, a Fluor-led joint venture, to build the I-35 northeast expansion south project in San Antonio, Texas, according to Fluor. The Irving, Texas-based company will handle the design, construction and capital maintenance of the interstate project. Construction will begin in 2024, with completion slated for 2028, according to the release. Lone Star Constructors is a joint venture between Fluor and Austin Bridge & Road, a Coppell, Texas-based road construction company. The highway project aims to improve one of the most congested corridors in the state, currently used by more than 140,000 vehicles per day.
