Our team at the Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce will continue to work over the coming year with our Congressional members advocating for business industry, their employees and our community. Together we can create economic activity, advance business interests and enhance the quality of life for those who call Irving-Las Colinas home.
The Chamber’s 2024 federal legislative priorities include:
Education & Workforce
- The Chamber supports Federal efforts to align education and skills training programs with industry needs.
- The Chamber supports policies to increase access to reliable and affordable broadband connectivity, which is essential to education, employment, healthcare, and participation in the economy.
Economic Development
- Support the Reauthorization of the Small Business Administration and funding for small businesses including support for women, minority, and veteran-owned businesses.
Energy
- The Chamber supports national and international access to Texas-produced natural gas, oil, and energy with fair, consistent and transparent regulations.
Healthcare
- The Chamber supports easier access to behavioral health resources for adult and pediatric patients. The Chamber also supports expanded Broadband availability to improve healthcare delivery.
- The Chamber supports stable, predictable, and adequate federal reimbursement for all healthcare services.
Immigration
- The Chamber supports the passage of permanent legislation to protect Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) individuals to help meet workforce demands.
Technology
- The Chamber supports the thoughtful evaluation and adoption of an appropriate governance framework that protects businesses’ safe use of artificial intelligence (AI) while still encouraging and supporting business innovation.
- The Chamber supports legislation that is inclusive of both fiber and wireless considerations with respect to broadband infrastructure funding and connectivity.
Trade
- The Chamber supports free and fair international trade through accountable trade and investment agreements. Supporting open international trade creates jobs in the region while securing a strong and diverse economy. The Chamber also supports the reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank.
Transportation & Infrastructure
- The Chamber supports the preservation of funding for the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and the continued use of Public-Private Partnerships (P3s).
- Support the Reauthorization of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
- The Chamber supports the full implementation of the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) 2022-2023 including continued funding for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE).
- Support and advocate for Dallas Area Rapid Transit and DFW International Airport federal funding requests.
- Support and advocate for continued TxDOT funding for the Texas Clear Lanes which includes the Irving Interchange project.
- The Chamber supports energy infrastructure (oil and gas pipelines, liquified natural gas export facilities, etc.) permitting reform to support development of domestic natural resources.
