Brad Watson, Senior Director of Community Affairs at Vistra, a Fortune 500 retail electricity and power generation company, has been chosen to lead the 5-Star Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Fiscal Year 2023-2024, beginning October 1, 2023. Watson has served on the chamber’s Board for four years and is Chairman of the Economic Development Advisory Board, which advises the Irving Economic Development Partnership on corporate recruitment and strategic planning.
Watson oversees Vistra’s community relations with local governments, chambers of commerce, and community groups, and Vistra’s Corporate Giving program. Prior to his joining Vistra, Watson was a well known television journalist with WFAA-TV in the Dallas-Fort Worth market for 34 years, and news anchor for the ABC-affiliated station’s top-rated newscast for eight years.
“Brad brings deep talent and experience to the chairmanship, which will be an invaluable resource for us, particularly this coming fiscal year as we inaugurate a new five-year strategic plan for the chamber and collaborate with the city to refresh the Irving Economic Development Strategic Plan,” said Beth A. Bowman, President and CEO of the Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce and Irving Economic Development Partnership. “These are major initiatives, and Brad is the right person at the right time to lead us through this ambitious transitional phase. We’re glad to have him at the helm of our 5-Star chamber.”
“I’m pleased and grateful for the Board’s confidence in me. There are about 10,000 businesses in Irving – from Fortune 500 corporate headquarters to entrepreneurial start-ups – and the chamber’s mission is to help these businesses thrive and succeed,” said Watson. “Moreover, the chamber has an obligation to support the City of Irving and its residents, workers, and employers with thoughtful, sustainable economic growth that creates good paying jobs and supports our tax base. I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
